A refreshing break from the run of the mill grocery store. It’s quite small, but walk slowly as it’s packed with unique options. They make a lot of their own products, and they are quality. Comparable to an Aldi, as they have low food prices with no frills, but the options here are more interesting and unique and a tad pricier.
My wife and frequent Trader Joe's here in Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor. Never disappointed and always helped by energetic, friendly associates who appear to love what they do. Great selection of good food and treats. We love the holiday sweets!
I don't know, some people really love Trader Joes. I lived on the west coast a while back and in the 4 years I resided there, never went to the numerous Trader Joe's that were available to me. This was my first visit here in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was packed at lunchtime. I wasn't impressed but nor was I disappointed necessarily. Staff was friendly and helpful, the customers seemed well-to-do and maybe slightly pretentious. The smell of the food was delicious but mixed with the designer fragrances worn by the patrons made for a unique and unmistakable olfactory impression that is sure to last. Like I said, I know many people love Trader Joe's and that is understandable. I think you either feel that way or you hate it. There are some good deals to be found here and there; it almost seems as if some items are overpriced and some are a great bargain. I did not buy any of the signature things that Trader Joe's is famous for but I did pick up dinner items— 26oz jar of marinara sauce; 1.99, 16oz cooked frozen shrimp; 8.99 and 10oz some-what fresh looking tortellini; 2.49. We'll see if they're any good. All in all, I would never do my everyday shopping there regardless of if I could afford it or not but if I find something for a good bargain or that I cannot find anywhere else, I will definitely frequent there often.
Store was great as usual, especially decked out with specialty Christmas items which was awesome! And then after all our shopping was done the car wouldn't start up in the parking lot, and after an employee came out to kindly ask if we were okay she later returned to our still not running car to bring us water and snacks from the store! Very gracious and kind people, asked how we were &let us know we were more than welcome to wait in the warmth of the store.
Trader Joe's is awesome. It's not your average store with the same stuff as the others. Lots of different options. Wine variety is great. I was so happy when they opened here. Used to make detours in Detroit to get me some!
